Choosing the Right Company to Transport Your Vehicle
There are many companies in South Africa which can transport your car – whether it is driven by a driver (on road), off-road on a car carrier truck/trailer, or on a rollback or low-bed truck.
The first action from your side should be to look at the history and track record of a company. A medium to big company will have a proven track record in the industry and years of experience would be your best option.
If the company is a registered South African company, has been in business for more than 10 years, and is registered for VAT, it is usually an indication that it is a well-established and reputable company. It is always a good idea to check reviews about the company (e.g. Hello Peter and Google Reviews, or referrals on the company’s website).
Insurance should be in place for Goods in Transit. Also inform your insurance company that your vehicle will be transported on a car carrier, as most companies will make a note in your policy and insure your vehicle while it is being transported.
Note the procedure the company follows – from your Enquiry to Quotation, Conditions of Transport and communication throughout. Ask the questions you want, and gauge how these questions are answered. One can often determine professionalism and experience through communication with the company.
Decide what your objectives are:
- Are you looking for the cheapest option and can get by without a car for up to a week or two?
- Do you mind if the car is being moved by different people while being transported?
- Do you need your car as soon as possible and are willing to pay more to have peace of mind that your car will get to its destination as soon as possible, with the least worries/risk?
Why use Autofreight?
Autofreight has been in the transport business for 24 years, transporting thousands of vehicles, and we plan to be here for many years to come. We are big enough to offer the best service, and small enough to care.
Although we offer transport on all of the major routes throughout South Africa, our premium option is the route between Gauteng and Cape Town (and return).
Our door-to-door car carriers leave on Tuesdays from Pretoria or Johannesburg, directly after collecting vehicles from our client’s addresses. We have two full-time truck drivers who take turns driving to Cape Town, while taking great care of the load. They usually arrive late Wednesday in Cape Town, and start delivering vehicles, latest Thursday morning. They then collect vehicles and leave Cape Town to be back in Gauteng on Fridays, once again delivering to our clients’ homes, or the closest access point.
We regularly get compliments about our staff and drivers, as well as the fast delivery time. We also offer shuttle services to and from ORT and Cape Town International.
We promise to manage the transport of your vehicle as if it were our own, and give you value for money.
